I Like Perfume In Small Doses

I've decided to use this post to discuss perfume. Well...to write an essay on perfume I guess, since the internal conversation I'm having on the topic doesn't really count as an actual discussion. Moving on. As the title says, I like perfume in small doses. I like to wear a tiny bit under my clothes so that mostly I forget about it but sometimes I can catch a whiff of it and it makes me happy. I find any scent worn too heavily to be offensive, and I'm totally repulsed by people who try to cover up a stinky smell with a good one (creating some sort of hybrid sickly smell that only serves to give me a negative association with the good smell) but all in all I'd say I'm still a perfume girl. I'm pretty picky about it though, and in a strange way. I like a few orientals, even fewer florals, and I have a huge load of single notes and essential oils (that are more for creating bath products with than wearing alone) that I just love. In high school I stuck mostly with Joop! (homme, which suited me in a weird way, because I'm weird) and Shalimar, which I loved at the time. So I either smelled like a boy or a gramma, which some people liked, but most people didn't. I currently have three perfumes that I like to wear, and I love all of them.
First, there's Fracas. This has been my favorite for quite a while now, but I first began my affair with it from a sample I received in a shipment from Sephora, so I'm not sure how it's pronounced, as it (and the huge amount of it I've ordered since then) came in the mail. I've been pronouncing it fra-CAH, which is what I'd heard was the proper pronunciation, but Brett says that the word fracas is pronounced FRAH-kis, so now I'm unsure and feel ignorant and uncomfortable about it. It reminds me a lot of Shalimar, but is more refined, more sweet than powdery, and melts into my skin in a better, more subtle way...making it seem like the smell is just radiating from my warm skin, rather than from something I sprayed myself with before I got dressed that morning.
Next is Clinique Happy Heart. A recent birthday present that is much appreciated, it's the first floral of its kind that I've ever been able to wear for long periods of time without getting a headache. It's super feminine and reminds me a lot of Estee Lauder Pleasures, which I like but just can't wear. Wearing this makes me feel pretty, and like I fit in with other girls.
The last one is Bvlgari Omnia, which is new to them and to me. It's a wonderful oriental that doesn't get too sweet like some orientals do, which is great and good...grood. It's got that nice shy quality to it that makes me not notice it very much when it's on my skin. Instead I'm just happier through out the day and feel more pulled together, and then I remember to notice that I'm smelling perfume, and that it's lovely.
On that note...huh...note...I'm late leaving, so I'll end this here and go home to my sweet Brett now. And to movie night with Shannon! Woohoo!!! :D
